HC Quashes Order on 'Excess' Land

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday quashed the order of the Kozhenchery Taluk Land Board declaring a total of 232 acres of land bought by the KGS Group for the proposed Aranmula airport as excess.

The court also directed the board to reconsider and take a fresh decision after hearing the previous owner of the land.

It passed the order on a petition by Abraham Kalamannil of Mount Zion Group, previous owner of the land.  The land, mostly comprising paddy fields, was under the ownership of Abraham Kalamannil of Mount Zion Group, which later sold it to KGS Group, the petition stated.

The Taluk Land Board  had also directed revenue officials to take possession of the excess land.
