As part of World Blind Day observance, a mega show ‘Insight 2013’, by people who have excelled in various fields of life despite loss of sight, will be held at 6 pm at Durbar Hall ground on Tuesday. Union Minister K V Thomas will inaugurate the show.
Actor Jayasurya will be the chief guest at the function. Excise Minister K Babu, MLAs Hibi Eden, Benny Behnan and District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth will participate. The show is being organised by Kochi-based Pratyasha Foundation, with the cooperation of the District Information Office.
‘Insight 2013’ will feature programmes by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Rithik Rajan, singer and TV show host Divakar Sharma, artists from Tamil Nadu including Aruna, K Kashi, T Madhavan and musician Jerson Antony.
Musical concert, cinematic dance, folk dance and bharathanatyam performance will be held as part of the five-hour-long event. As many as 100 artists from within and outside the state will perform.
A mega show of this kind is being held for the first time in the state.
The show will commence with the performance by the band of artists from Keezhmad Blind School. Artists from across the country have arrived in the city for the show. The rehearsal was held at the Renewal Centre in Kaloor.
Navy to Hold March
The Southern Naval Command will observe White Cane Day in association with the Society for Rehabilitation of Visually-challenged Children (SRVC) on Tuesday. A 50-metre march will be held by the members of the SRVC and Naval personnel. The Naval personnel will participate blindfolded in the march and will be led by visually-challenged members of SRVC.
The Kerala Federation of Blind, Ernakulam district committee, along with Ernakulam district panchayat, will observe White Cane Day at Kakkanad district panchayat hall.
The march, which will start from the district panchayat hall at 10.45 am, will be attended by district panchayat officials and office-bearers of block panchayats.
The public meeting will be inaugurated by Excise Minister K Babu. District panchayat president Eldose Kunnappally will preside over the meeting in which Benny Behnan MLA will be the chief guest.
