Construction worker found dead

A 38-year-old construction worker was found dead in a room adjacent to a toddy shop at Paniyeli Poru under Kuruppampady Police station near Perumbavoor on Wednesday.

A 38-year-old construction worker was found dead in a room adjacent to a toddy shop at Paniyeli Poru under Kuruppampady Police station near Perumbavoor on Wednesday. The police confirmed that the person was murdered and a sharp object was used for the crime. 

The deceased was identified as Binu, Purampokil house, Palode, Thiruvananthapuram. Neighbours first spotted him lying dead at the room in the morning. Binu was living in the room on rent for a few weeks.

“There were two injuries on his face and he was stabbed on his back with a sharp object. We suspect that a fight took place between Binu and the murderer. The incident might have happened in the early morning,” police officials said.

The police are searching for Binu’s friend, who went absconding after the incident. Police also suspect that Binu was in an inebriated condition. “We consider one of his friends, who went missing since Tuesday night, as a suspect. We have begun the search to nab him,”Police officials said.

Forensic experts and finger print experts examined the spot where the murder took place and collected  vital samples for the investigation into the case. Tracker dog from the police dog squad was also brought to the spot.

The body of the victim was later shifted to the Ernakulam General Hospital for conducting post-mortem examination. By evening, the  post-mortem examination was over and the body was handed over to the relatives who arrived here from Thiruvananthapuram.
