Vipin Vijay's 'Vishaparvam' wins French film award

‘Vishaparvam (Venomous Folds)’, directed by Vipin Vijay, has won the Best Film Award (for documentary under 45 minutes) at the 11th International Festival Signes de Nuit, Paris, France.

‘Vishaparvam (Venomous Folds)’, directed by Vipin Vijay, has won the Best Film Award (for documentary under 45 minutes) at the 11th International Festival Signes de Nuit, Paris, France.

The jury observed that “this film shows the still-existing capacities of communication with the unknown nature and with the inner levels of reality”.

The 30-minute film, which has won the Kerala State Television Award, had its world premiere in competition at Oberhausen International Film Festival, Germany, earlier this year.

The film, produced by Rajiv Mehrotra for Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT), New Delhi, has also been selected to the Indian Panorama in the upcoming International Film Festival of India, Goa.

A graduate from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, Vipin had received the Charles Wallace Arts Award for research at the British Film Institute, London, and India Office Records, London, in 2003.

His films have won the Tiger Award for Short Films (Rotterdam), National Award (India), Golden Pearl (HIFF), Kodak Award, Kerala State Film Award, IDPA Award and the John Abraham National Award.
