Earlier, the  Human Rights Commission had  issued show cause notices to Air India and its pilot Rupali Waghmare asking as to why action should not be taken against them in connection with the emergency landing of the flight.

The notices were issued following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by People’s Movement for Civil Rights, an NGO union seeking compensation from Air India for filing criminal cases against the passengers.

The pilot issued a hijack alert when passengers protested over flight delay, following which criminal cases were registered against five passengers.
