14th Accused in Sex Abuse Case Held

The Special Investigation Team probing the Paravur sex abuse case arrested a woman on Sunday who was absconding for the past one year.

The Special Investigation Team probing the Paravur sex abuse case arrested a woman on Sunday who was absconding for the past one year.

The arrested, identified as Jessy, the 14th accused is a native of Thiruvananthapuram. Jessy was one of the main agents who allegedly handed over the victim to the several people.

 According to the police, Jessy had handed over the girl to 16 people. Jessy and Shajimon were earlier arrested in the case, but went absconding after getting bail.

She was staying at Coimbatore with her husband when the parents of the victim sold the girl to them for `30,000. It was Jessy and her husband Shajimon who handed over the girl to several men at lodges and houses in Coimbatore.

 The police had issued a look-out notice for the accused. She is also an accused in the Kozhikode sex scandal case. Jessy was arrested from Mannanthala in Thiruvananthapuram, police officials said.   Jessy was produced before the Magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
