The Muvattupuzha Municipality has approved the recommendations made by the traffic advisory committee for revising the traffic system in the town, including traffic diversion and installation of traffic singles.

As per the recommendation, all buses including KSRTC and private coming from Thodupuzha will be diverted to the KSRTC junction along the NAS Road to enter the PO Junction.

Buses from Kothamangalam, Piravom and Koothattukulam routes will be allowed  to proceed to enter the Market bus stand along the EEC market road.

The committee also suggested relocation of the Keecherypady bus stand to near the Old Employment Exchange building.

The municipality has also taken steps for installation of traffic signals at the busy spots in the town, such as the EEC Market Junction and the Vellurkunnam Junction following the decision of the advisory committee. The illegal parking and wayside eateries will be removed with the support of the Police Department.

The municipality has also approved the recommendation of the committee to give number to all authorised auto stands in the town aiming at identifying unrecognised stands. Steps will be taken against all illegal auto stands.

All suggestions made by the traffic advisory committee that have been approved by the Municipality will be implemented in a phased manner, said   municipal chairman U R Babu. “We are planning to execute the suggestions without disrupting the present traffic flow. Once implemented, the traffic flow in the town could be streamlined considerably,” he added.

The advisory meeting held on other day was attended by the officials of the Police Department, Motor Transport Department, PWD, the KWA officials and the Muvattupuzha Municipal authorities.
