VC Search Panel: HC Declines Stay

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday refused to stay the election of N Narayanan Nair as a member of the search committee for selecting Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A M Shaffique also asked the varsity authorities to file an affidavit in response to a writ petition challenging the nomination of N Narayanan Nair.

According to the petitioner, K M Shajahan, UGC regulation states that no persons connected with the university or the colleges under the same varsity can be included in the search committee. He said that the selection of Narayanan Nair,  director of the Kerala Law Academy, a college under the university, was illegal.
