However, builders aver that they cater to customers’ need. “When the issue came to our notice we set out to resolve it and it was done within days of receiving the complaint. We have stopped receiving complaints from residents of Misty Heights, Vyttila,” said Prema Nair, spokesperson of Shwas Homes Private Ltd.

A controversy arose when the residents complained that they were not provided with lift facility at the 19-floored Misty Heights project.

In March last year, the residents of Panjos Gardens in Padivattom complained to Panjos Builders Private Ltd that the original plans and the sketches varied from the completed plan submitted by the builder to the Corporation.

“The issue was raised by some customers which has now been resolved. There are no problems with any of our building projects now,” said an official of Panjos Builders.

“Fraudulent business practices will not happen in the real estate sector in the city as the builders under CREDAI strictly follow the code of conduct stipulated by the association.   CREDAI also has a customer grievance cell. When any unfortunate incident is reported, immediate steps are taken to resolve it. CREDAI is committed to ensure the interests of the customers,” said J Paul Raj, secretary, CREDAI-Kochi.
