Papal Honour for Church Laity Commission Secretary

Papal honour was bestowed on Syro-Malabar Church Laity Commission secretary V C Sebastian by Apostolic Nuncio to India Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio on Saturday.

Papal honour was bestowed on Syro-Malabar Church Laity Commission secretary V C Sebastian by Apostolic Nuncio to India Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio on Saturday.

The Vatican had announced the title of ‘Chevalier’ for Sebastian, considering his service for the Church. Sebastian received the vestments,  medal and official document regarding the papal honour from the Apostolic Nuncio at a function held on the sidelines of the 31st Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), being held at Pala.

The Apostolic Nuncio read out the official announcement regarding the papal honour.

The official document regarding the honour, signed by the Vatican state secretary, was handed over to Sebastian. Bishop of Kanjirappally Mar Mathew Arakkal spoke on the ocassion.

Archbishops Mar Andrews Thazhath, Mar Joseph Perunthottam and Mar Mathew Moolekkattu, Bishops Mar Mathew Anikuzhikkattil, Mar Jacob Manathodath, Mar Pauly Kannookkadan, Remigius Inchananiyil, Mar Mathew Vaniyakizhakkel, Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath, Mar Joseph Pandarasseril, Fr Jacob Palakkapillil, and KCBC Laity Commission secretary Jose Vithayathil were present at the function.
