HC Bats for Organ Donation

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday held that, when there was material available to indicate that there was no commercial interest in organ donation, the authorities should not insist on further proof.Justice A M Shaffique passed the order while considering a petition filed by Mohammed M K of Panur in Kannur who wanted to receive a kidney donated by a non-relative Mathai Joseph of Muvattupuzha. Since the current laws are stringent, they are not able to donate and receive the organ and the appeal to allow the organ donation from both of them in this regard was rejected by the authorities. Following this they approached the Kerala High Court.
