US Official Visits Kochi Factory

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Commissioner Margaret A Hamburg on Friday visited the factory of Accelerated Freeze Drying Company Ltd (AFDC)

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Commissioner Margaret A Hamburg on Friday visited the factory of Accelerated Freeze Drying Company Ltd (AFDC) of Amalgam group, a leading seafood processing company, at Willingdon Island in Kochi.

She has come to India to highlight the importance of ongoing collaboration on food and drug programmes between the countries and to emphasise the importance of quality in product development. Abraham J Tharakan, AFDC chairman, received the Commissioner. The Commissioner met company executives and visited the factory. She is on a trip from February 10 to 18 to India.

Currently, India is the second largest provider of finished drug products and the eighth largest exporter of food products, including spices and seafood.
