Around the World in 80 Days

The popular play will be staged in Kochi on Saturday

Buck Busfield, the renowned American director of B Street Theatre brings his comedy - Around the World in 80 Days at the JT Pac on Saturday, on February 22 at 7 pm.

Danger, romance and comic surprises abound in this whirlwind of a show as five actors portraying 39 characters traverse seven continents in one of the greatest adventures of all time.

The lively and hilarious two-hour performance addresses the challenges of embarking on a journey, the importance of perseverance, and the ways in which we can learn from the humanity and kindness of others.

Phileas Fogg agrees to a wager to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days that puts his fortune and his life at risk. But his every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he is a robber on the run.

80 Days has been one of B Street’s most successful productions. They use little props and scenery. Instead, they rely on skilful acting.

The play is an adaptation by Mark Brown of the Jules Verne classic starring Michael Stevenson, Greg Alexander, Elisabeth Nunziato, David Pierini and Amy Resnick.

A veteran actor and the co-director of B Street Theatre Conservatory, Michael Stevenson is also an active member of the B Street Theatre Acting Company. Greg Alexander, actor and creative director, has appeared in numerous projects like I Am My Own Wife, Escaba in Da Moonlight and so on.

Elisabeth Nunziato is a founding B Street Company member and also has been performing on stage, films, commercials and in voice-overs for more than two decades. A member of the B Street Acting Company, David Pierini has appeared in many Mainstage productions including Circle Mirror Transformation, The Bing Bang, Hear the Grass Grow to name a few. Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Unabashedly slapstick! Join fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant as they race to beat the clock!

Meanwhile, Buss is looking forward to their performances in India.

“This has been something I’ve been working on for five years,” said Busfield. He is married to Meera, who is an Indian. As a result Busfield comes to India every year.
