The Kadavanthra police on Wednesday registered a case against an institute at Jawahar Nagar, Kadavanthra, for allegedly cheating an Iranian couple who completed cruise ship diploma course from there.

The case was registered after Vagamon Parkasi Niyag and his wife lodged a complaint through email from Tehran alleging that the institute, named Cantroy Career Guidance, had cheated them by taking money for the diploma course and failed to provide certificates and placement abroad.

According to the police, the managing director and CEO of the institute are the accused. The police have also registered a case against the Eurotech Maritime Institute as Cantroy Career Guidance is affiliated to it.

“The couple joined the course after seeing an advertisement on the Internet. According to the complaint, they paid around `15 lakhs for the course. They were promised a job in Canada once completing the course. Since there was a delay from the part of the institute, they went back to Tehran few months back. But till now, the institute failed to give certificate of the course and work permit in Canada,” said the police.   ENS
