'Ayurveda Needs Better Coverage

Ayurveda should be given a better space in the media and priority should be given to this traditional system of medicine which is a part of our culture, Rajya Sabha

Ayurveda should be given a better space in the media and priority should be given to this traditional system of medicine which is a part of our culture, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said on Saturday. He was speaking after inaugurating the Media Meet, organised as part of ‘Global Ayurveda Festival’.

“There is a cultural invasion going on through the media, which is of great concern as far as our lifestyle is concerned,” he said. Sebastian Paul, former MP, said the media is controlled by capitalists and it is evident from the predominance being given to the health programs based on allopathy practices in the media. V D Satheesan MLA, journalist K M Roy, Baby Mathew, MD, Somatheeram,  Dr Krishnakumar, Nagarjuna, and Dr Rajith Anand took part in the meet.

The Oushadha Mitra Award instituted as part of the Global Ayurveda Festival was presented to K M Joseph, a medicinal herb farmer from Muvattupuzha.
