Scholarship Cheque Given to 295 Selected Students

‘Akshara Theeram’, a comprehensive education scheme initiated by Anwar Sadath MLA, was inaugurated by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs K V Thomas on Tuesday.

The Minister inaugurated the project by distributing scholarship cheque to 295 selected students.

‘Akshara Theeram’ has been conceived mainly to improve the standards of government and aided schools in five constituencies in Aluva.

Anwar Sadath presided over the function and said that ‘Akshara Theeram’ is also providing scholarships for deserving students who are financially weak or have become underprivileged by the death of their father or mother.He said, as part of the project, nutritionally improved mid-day meal will be given to the students, funds for which will be granted from the MLA Fund or raised from private sponsors.

Students from first standard to degree level will be brought under the purview of the project.

‘Snehapoorvam’ is the special scholarship scheme introduced under ‘Akshara Theeram’ project. K P Dhanapalan MP released the logo of ‘Akshara Theeram’ on the occasion.   ENS
