Budget Allocations for Town Hall Project, Waste Plant

The Perumbavoor Municipality annual budget presented for the  2014-15 fiscal, presented on Thursday, has proposed a slew of infrastructure developmental projects.

The Perumbavoor Municipality annual budget presented for the  2014-15 fiscal, presented on Thursday, has proposed a slew of infrastructure developmental projects. The budget, presented by municipal vice-chairperson Rosely Varghese at a council meeting here, shows an income of `34.93 crore and an expenditure of `32.83 crore.

The municipality has earmarked a sum of `3.3 crore for constructing a   municipal town hall at the municipal land at Perunkulampuncha in the budget.

Giving priority to the project, a sum of `20 lakh has also been allocated to acquire land for constructing road to the proposed site.

The vice-chairperson, in her budget presentation, said the work on the  municipal shopping mall would finish in the next fiscal and Rs 1.95 crore has been set aside for the same.

The budget also proposes a new marketing complex at Perumbavoor town, the work of which is expected to be completed next year and an amount of `1 crore has been allocated.

For opening a Karunya Medical Store at Perumbavoor Government Hospital, the municipality has earmarked `1 crore in the annual budget. A sum of `2 crore  has been earmarked for effective implementation of UIDSSMT projects and `25 lakh for renovation of municipality office building. The municipality has announced a Kudumbasree canteen and Kudumbasree  shopping complex at the municipality office building and the projects are expected to commence by next year.

For setting up a new solid waste treatment plant, there is an allocation of `50 lakh in the budget and a sum of `15 lakh has been set aside for purchasing vehicles for waste removal.

The municipality has mooted a BUDS Special School for the mentally challenged and `16 lakh has been  allocated for the same.  Computerisation of municipality office, a new building for municipality owned-homeopathy hospital.
