A person who was accused in the case registered for sexually abusing a minor girl committed suicide late on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Shibu Job, 36, of Champakkara. He committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at the residence of his sister at Paradise Lane in Kadavanthara.
Two cases had been registered against the accused at the Marad police station for raping a minor girl at Champakkara in 2012. Police officials said that the deceased was an alcoholic and had been in depression after the incident. He was living at his sister’s house after being released on bail. The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination on Thursday. Kadavanthra police have registered a case of unnatural death.
