Most of the hospitals in the city registered births less than 15

Though the city hospitals geared up to welcome new borns on the New Year, it seems they were quite less in number. Taking into account the  statistics from the most prominent city hospitals, including the General Hospital, most of them have registered births as less as 15.

Two hospital did not even register any births on the first day of 2014.

As expected, the Ernakulam General Hospital topped the list with eight babies - three caesareans and eight normal deliveries.

The Medical Trust hospital had one female baby while it was the same last year too. However, there was no births at Lisie Hospital. Last year, there was one.

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi, too did not register a single birth. The PVS Memorial Hospital, Kochi, registered the birth of a baby girl whereas Ernakulam Medical Trust has registered the birth of three baby girls. Lakeshore Hospital and Sunrise Hospital, Kakkanad registered one birth each.
