Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the ‘Sathabhisheka’ celebrations of Congress leader M M Jacob during his two-day visit to the city

The city is all set to welcome Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is arriving on a two-day visit on Saturday and the city has been brought under tight security blanket. In Kochi he will attend three functions. 

On Saturday, Manmohan Singh will dedicate, the `-4,200 crore, five-million-tonne-per-year capacity LNG Terminal to the nation at 4.15 pm. But the commercial supply of fuel from the terminal at Puthuvype started in last August.

He will attend two more functions in the city on Sunday. He will inaugurate the 90th year celebrations of Mathrubhumi daily at Marine Drive at 3 pm. A host of dignitaries, including state Ministers and socio-political leaders from across the spectrum, will attend the function.

Later, he will inaugurate the ‘Sathabhisheka’ celebrations of senior Congress leader M M Jacob. The meeting to be held at St Teresa’s College auditorium at 4 pm will be presided over by Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC president and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Union Ministers Vayalar Ravi, K V Thomas, Opposition deputy leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, state Ministers K M Mani, P K Kunhalikutty, Hibi Eden MLA and DCC president V J Poulose are expected to attend the function.
