Metro: Sreedharan Happy with Work

DMRC Principal Advisor E Sreedharan said that the work of the first phase of Kochi Metro will be completed within the next 710 days.

DMRC Principal Advisor E Sreedharan said that the work of the first phase of Kochi Metro will be completed within the next 710 days. Sreedharan who was conducting a site visit told reporters here that he was satisfied with the progress of the work.

“There were controversies and issues during the initial days, when the work of the metro had begun. This is normal for any huge project. However, currently, no such issues are slowing down the work of the metro,” he said.

The work of the subway near the railway level crossing at the Muttom casting yard has already begun. The levelling of earth has been completed, said DMRC officials.

The work of the subway at the Muttom yard will be completed within six months, Sreedharan added.

He said that the pillar works are moving on in a satisfactory pace. The rest of the tenders for the project is being called without any delay.

Sreedharan visited the casting yard at Kalamassery and also surveyed the works in between KC2 to KC3 stretches.
