Nuals Plans Inter-collegiate Debate Competition from February 7 to 9

The Debate Forum of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (Nuals) is organising an inter-college debate competition from February 7 to 9.

This will be fifth edition of the competition ‘Altus Disputatio’, to be held on Nuals campus at Kalamassery.

The competition is famous for its unique ‘Devil’s Cross’ format developed by Nuals students.

In this format, motions of debates are determined by the participating teams themselves, after interpreting an abstract phrase provided by the organisers so as to connect the phrase to a contemporary issue.

In Altus’ previous editions, the winners were Gujarat National Law University, ILS Law College Pune, National Law School of India University, Bangalore, and SDM Law College, Mangalore.

The slots will be allotted on a first-come-first-serve basis to 24 teams each with two speakers and an inquisitor(divided into six pools).

Awards include attractive cash prizes of `1.15 lakh, including `45,000 for the winners, along with the ever-rolling trophy.

Runners-up team will get `35,000, while `20,000 for the best speaker and `15,000 for the best inquisitor.

Each team have to pay `1,500 as registration fee.
