KOCHI: The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Podiatry of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences will organise the Amrita Diabetics, Endocrinology and Diabetic Food Conference-2014 (AEDFC). The conference will be held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences on June 20 and 21.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the conference.
District Collector M G Rajamanikyam will inaugurate the new ‘One-Stop Thyroid Clinic’ which will provide comprehensive care for thyroid diseases including biochemical tests of thyroid function, ultrasound services, radio-iodine therapy, surgery and expert medical management of thyroid disease by the Endocrinology Department.
Swami Amritageetanandapuri will deliver the benedictory address.
Dr Lee Rogers, medical director, Sherman Oaks Hospital, Los Angeles, and Dr Stephanie Wu, Dr William M Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Chicago, Illinois, are among the many experts participating in the meeting. Delegates from all over the country will attend the meet.
The discussions will include deliberations on diabetes and diabetic foot management, thyroid disease and diseases affecting various hormonal systems in the body. Latest techniques for diabetic foot diagnosis and management including diabetic foot reconstructive surgeries will be discussed at the meet.
