The construction work of Muttom metro coach maintenance depot has been disrupted since Tuesday night after locals blocked workers from levelling the road in the area.
The metro workers were involved in earth filling of the road where the subway is being constructed.
According to the metro officials, it is necessary to raise the level of the existing road for the construction of the subway, as there are chances that it will get submerged during the rainy season.
The officials said that the locals came in the night and disrupted the work.
“The issue has risen owing to a misunderstanding. The locals think that we are blocking the access of the panchayat road, which will in turn will block their movement. But we are only filling the road for the time being as part of subway works. We are constructing an alternative road for the public to use,” the officials said.
No work was carried out at the yard on Wednesday following the protests.
As per reports, there are chances that the work at the metro yard might be restored on Thursday.
