Operation Kuber: 'FICN' Recovered

KOCHI:  ‘Operation Kuber’ is taking a new twist as fake currency notes were recovered from the bag of a person arrested by Kadavanthra police here the other day. Interestingly, the police could not identify the fake currency notes and it was submitted before the Ernakulam CJM Court as evidence. Naveen, who has been running moneylending business in Kadavanthra and Gandhi Nagar, was arrested by the police on Thursday. The police also recovered a bag carrying `1,45,495 from him. Later, the arrested person was released on bail and the seized bag was submitted before the court.

It was on Saturday morning, when the officials tried to deposit the money at CRCD account of the court at SBT, Broadway, the fake notes were detected.

The bundle carried 67 fake notes of `5 denomination. The bank officials said that the secret thread was missing in all the notes in the bundle. The notes looked genuine and the paper quality was similar to the original. Ernakulam Central Police have started investigation and Naveen was interrogated. “The notes would be examined by the experts,” the police said.
