Couple Arrested for Duping Travel Agent

KOCHI: The Kadavanthra police on Sunday arrested a couple on charges of stealing a luxury car from a travel agency.

The arrested have been identified as Manu of Nedumkandam in Idukki and Monisha of Kottayam.

According to the police, the couple was arrested from their residence in Idukki, from where the stolen vehicle was also recovered.

“The incident came to light after Arun M, owner of the travel agency, lodged a complaint with us. The couple had visited the travel agency for hiring a car, and borrowing Rs 77,000,” police officials said.

“The couple gave a fake cheque to Arun as security, which returned from bank dishonoured the other day. The couple also failed to return the car within the allowed time”, they said and added that the couple had stayed at various lodges by providing false information.  Manu and Monisha were produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, which remanded them for 14 days.
