KOCHI: The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court on Friday sentenced a West Bengal native to five years rigorous imprisonment for using and possessing fake currency notes. The accused Azadullah Sheikh of Murshidabad district in West Bengal has also been fined a sum of `5,000.
Additional District Sessions Court judge E M Muhammad Ibrahim announced an additional six month imprisonment if Azadullah fails to pay the fine. The accused has been found guilty of offences under section IPC 489 (B) and (C) for using counterfeit notes.
