‘Transfer B’lore Blast Case to NIA’

KOCHI: The Bangalore bomb blast case, in which Abdul Nasar Madani is an accused, should be probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), demanded the State wing of the BJP here on Saturday.

“Madani, who is out on bail, is trying to influence the witnesses in the case,” alleged BJP State President V Muraleedharan. He said that the case had already seen a wave of defections, especially that of the main witnesses - Jose Verghese, Abdu Ustad, Mani alias Yusuf and Anvar Kareem.

“The weakness of the prosecution had prompted the court to grant bail to Madani. The prosecution did not make any effort to expose the defection of the witnesses. We suspect that the newly elected Congress Government in Karnataka is trying to save Madani,” he said.   “Thadiyantavide Nazeer, the main accused in the case, has given important statements against Madani before the NIA. It is against this backdrop that we are asking for an NIA investigation into the case,” he added.
