MAM Launches Charity Programme

KOCHI: The Mata Amritanandamayi Math (MAM) launched the district-level distribution of pension to destitute widows, and educational aid and the  ‘Vidyamritham’ scholarship to students the other day, as part its charity initiates.

The Math had recently expanded its charity programmes, and a total of 5,000 persons in the district are expected to get its benefits.

The programme has already covered the Paravur, Kanayannur and Kochi taluks. The launch of the programme in the Kochi circle was inaugurated by Dominic Presentation MLA on Saturday. At the function, Anaghamrita Chaitanya delivered the keynote address. B Ramachandran, Jnanodayam Sabha president R Shaji and councillor P D Suresh also spoke.

V D Satheesan MLA inaugurated the launch of the programme in the Paravur taluk. Speaking at the function, which was held at Chennamangalam, Satheesan said that the charity programme initiated by the Matha Amritanandamayi Math was the best example of serving the people.

 On the occasion, S Sarma MLA inaugurated the distribution of dress materials to the poor people.
