Security Beefed Up After NIA Alert

KOCHI: In the wake of the arrest of a Sri Lankan national Arun Selvarajan in Chennai on Wednesday on charges of working as a spy for the Pakistani secret service, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), the City Police have decided to beef up security in the city.  As per reports, the NIA announced the other day that it has recovered video footages of  Southern Naval command and Cochin Port from the custody of the accused. 

The security will be tightened in the city if an official intimation comes from the intelligence sources, said M R Ajith Kumar,Inspector General(IG), Kochi range.  NIA officials have reportedly seen a 10-minute-long footage of the Naval base confirming that Kochi has been spotted as a terror target. ISI had reportedly sought the map and  details of the upcoming Vizag submarine base and other sensitive  defence areas in south India from the accused.
