Seminar on Kerala Economy

KOCHI: A two-day seminar ‘Kerala: Economy: Performance, Problems and Prospects’ commenced at Sacred Hearts College on Thursday. The UGC-sponsored seminar is being organised by the Department of Economics. The seminar was inaugurated by Thomas Isaac MLA who also delivered the keynote address on ‘Kerala Economy and Fiscal Crisis’. The seminar will also provide an opportunity for policy makers and economists, researchers and students to come together for meaningful deliberations of various economic issues, the organisers said. It also provides new insights into the growth performance, opportunities for further growth, challenges being faced and strategies to overcome the problems and new areas for further research.

College Principal Prasant Palackappillil presided over the function. T O Alphonse Ligori, Agile Joy, Jose Sebastian, M K Prasad also spoke. Representatives of different academic institutions were also present.
