KOCHI:Actor Shine Tom Chacko, who was granted conditional bail by the Kerala High Court in the cocaine case last week, on Saturday urged the youth to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
Shine was speaking at a press conference held here to announce the resumption of shooting for his film ‘Viswasam Athalle Ellam’. The actor, along with four women, was taken into custody recently for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs.
“The greatest intoxication one can get in one’s life is freedom. I realised that fact within the walls of the jail, where I spent nearly sixty days. I have decided not to use cigarette and liquor any more. I do not want anyone to go through the hard times as my parents did. That is why I am requesting my fans and the youth in general to stay away from drugs,” said Shine.
Meanwhile, he denied the reports that he had used cocaine and other drugs.
“I am a person who is on bail. So, I have restrictions to answer queries related to the charges against me. I believe that the truth will be unfolded at the court,” he said when asked about the incident in which he and four women - Reshma Rangaswamy, Blessy Sylvester, Tincy Babu, and Sneha Babu - were arrested from an apartment owned by Kings’ Group owner Mohammad Nisham, who was arrested from Thrissur earlier for murdering security guard Chandrabose.
On the reaction of his friends after the arrest, Shine said he did not think his friends betrayed him in the cocaine case. “Most of my friends from the film field, including directors and co-actors, extended their support and consoled me,” he said.
He said he lost the opportunity to join the crew of the film ‘KL-10’ after he was jailed.
“The makers of KL-10 had already scheduled the shoot for February. Hence, I was not able to be part of the film. Another project that was postponed after the incident is ‘Papparazi’, a film by director Madhu,” he said.
Meanwhile, the shooting of ‘Viswasam Athalle Ellam’ will resume on Sunday at Mattancherry.
