KOCHI: Observance of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), organised by HelpAge India, was inaugurated by actor Poonrima Indrajith here on Monday.
This year, HelpAge India had conducted a survey with focus on the ‘Mindset of Young Adults - Their Perspective’. Results of the survey showed that there was a huge gap between ‘the reality and existence of elder abuse’, which needed to be addressed.
A signature campaign was conducted, and a report on ‘Elder Abuse-the Indian Youth Speaks Out’ was released.
