Youth Arrested with Several Forged Documents in Kochi

KOCHI: The police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old person with several forged certificates and ID cards at the Ernakulam South railway station.

The arrested has been identified as Sanumon of Vengalloor, Thodupuzha. According to the police, Sanumon was spotted roaming near the railway station in a suspicious manner. A team of Shadow Police took him into custody and interrogated.

While examining his bag, several PAN cards, ID cards and academic certificates, including SSLC certificates, were recovered - all having his name but different addresses. He also had a certificate issued by the Indian Medical Students Association, in which his name was given as Sanumon MBBS, MD.

The police said Sanumon used to show the certificates to girls and cheat them by proposing to them. He used to introduce himself to prospective brides and their parents as a highly paid employee.

On examining the computers of the arrested, it was found that he had attempted to make forged letter pads of a well-known hospitals, with his name on them. The police also seized CDs containing copies of forged documents from the house of the accused. Sanumon was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate, and was remanded. The police are likely to file a petition seeking his custody.
