KOCHI:Officials of the Excise Department on Tuesday seized around 360 litres of spurious toddy from a toddy shop at Edanadu near Aluva.
During the raid conducted by Excise sleuths, it was found that a large stock of spurious toddy was stored in the toddy shop, while the quantity of liquor recorded in the register was only 40 litre.
The seized toddy was sent to laboratory for examination. The Excise officials also arrested toddy tender Mathayi, 59, of Chowara. Kumar, 26, of Aluva, who is the licensee of the shop, is absconding. The raid was led by Excise Deputy Commissioner P Jayarajan. Range Inspector P Krishnan Nair and preventive officers K T and B Anilkumar also took part in the raid.
