KOCHI:Officials of the Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB) on Tuesday arrested two more former ground handling staff of BWFS for alleged involvement in gold smuggling, taking the total number of persons arrested to 25.
The arrested persons had quit job with BWFS recently, and were working at the Bangalore airport, under another agency. The arrested have been identified as Ansal K K, 24, of Aluva and Bibin, 25, of Kochi. They were produced before he court, and were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
The SIIB officials said the ground handling staff involved in gold smuggling didn’t know each other. “They were controlled by the smuggling racket separately, and were provided with separate mobile phones for the purpose,” they said.
