KOCHI: The CPM district committee claimed it had made elaborate arrangements to distribute organic vegetable products in the district during the Onam season.
Speaking at a press meet here, CPIM district secretary P Rajeev said the party was planning to open vegetable stalls at the local committees across the district.
“In the stalls, vegetables are expected to be sold for two days - on ‘pooradam’ and ‘uthradam’. We have already supplied over two-and-half lakh vegetable seedlings, along with 500 kg vegetable seeds and one lakh grow-bags. The district-level inauguration of the vegetable-planting festival will be held at a function to be held at Thammanam at 4:00 pm on Monday,” said Rajeev.
“650 tonne of vegetables are expected to be procured through the initiatives, which will be sold to the public via 164 stalls,” he said.
