KOCHI: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Sub-rgional Office, will complete activation of the allotted Universal Account Number (UAN) within 10 days.
N Gopalakrishnan, Regional PF Commissioner, said that the Sub-regional Office is already in touch with over 8,00 establishments enrolled under it with clear instructions to activate all the allotted UAN.
Special teams have been formed and are being sent to various establishments to educate them how to activate and also to enlighten them about the services they can enjoy on successful activation.
Visitors to the EPF office are also being persuaded to activate their UAN. An UAN Helpdesk is in full swing at the Kaloor office of EPFO to help them.
The Sub-Regional Office of EPFO at Kochi has so far got updated KYC details of 3.19 lakh employees and 1.49 lakh UAN have already been activated.
The UAN is intended to link multiple member numbers that an employee may have acquired by working in different companies.
This number which is a unique number allotted to each employee who is a subscriber in EPFO carries with it several facilities.
The employee can later activate his/her UAN by logging into the Member Portal in the EPFO website using his mobile phone number.
UAN activation helps the employees to know whether the employer remits the contributions deducted from their salary on time, correct amount is remitted etc and it will be available in the registered mobile numbers every time a contribution is made.
SMS is sent to the registered mobile number of the employee when a withdrawal is made or when a transfer is received from another account into the present account.
