Assam Native Held for Murders

KOCHI:A 35-year-old Assam native was arrested by the Ernakulam Rural Police in  Nagaland for murdering his wife and three-and-half month old child at Perumbavoor two months ago.

Abdul Hashim had been evading arrest ever since he committed the crime by shifting location in various states.

According to Perumbavoor CI Mohammed Riaz, Hashim hacked to death his 30-year-old wife, who is also a native of Assam, and the child, and dumped the bodies in an open place near Perumbavoor on May 21.   Hashim, who has already married thrice, allegedly committed the murder to marry a fourth time.

After committing the crime, he fled to  the North East, and had been staying in various states there, before he was nabbed from a wood factory in Nagaland.  The police traced him using his mobile phone, which was recovered from the crime spot.   He was arrested on July 29, and was produced before a local court.
