Parentage Dispute Filed at Women's Adalat

A woman complainant raised a rare demand to have a DNA test conducted on a middle-aged man, who she claimed was her father.

KOCHI: At the adalat organised by the State Women’s Commission at the Civil Station here on Tuesday, a woman complainant raised a rare demand to have a DNA test conducted on a middle-aged man, who she claimed was her father.

Surprisingly, the man who was accompanied by his wife agreed to undergo the test. The complainant, a resident of Mamalakandam, in her complaint stated that she was the daughter of the man, born in a relationship outside marriage.

Meanwhile, the man’s wife filed a complaint with the Commission, stating that the young woman was trying to claim their assets by filing a fake complaint. “My husband is ready to undergo any test, which would ultimately reveal the real intention of the lady,” said the wife.

Women’s Commissions member Lissie Jose issued an order to conduct DNA test on the man. As many as 86 complaints were received at the adalat, of which 29 complaints were settled and 15 were handed over to the police.
