KOCHI: The contract for construction of 1 million square feet godown by Cochin Port Trust will be awarded by December 31, said the Port Trust authorities. The godown is being constructed as part of Port Trust’s plan to develop Cargo Park in Willingdon Island.
The godowns are to be primarily used to attract traffic through the Port’s berths and terminals. It has invited applications to develop and operate modern warehouses on commercial basis on Willingdon Island. Details of the plots where the facility to be set up is available on the website. Plots of 45 cents to 1010 cents are available for construction of warehouses. The annual lease rent will be Rs 7.90 lakh per acre. ‘’Since Port can award allotments of land on lease only on the basis of auction-cum-tender, the plot indicated would be put to auction-cum-tender with the price indicated as reserve price. The bidder offering highest upfront premium will be allotted the plot,’’ said port authorities said.
