KOCHI: A 53-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a gun at his house in Kothamangalam on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Shajan Varghese, of Puthedathu at Kuthukuzhy. He was a former president of cooperative bank, Kuthukuzhy.
According to officials, his mother found him lying in a pool of blood at his property in the morning. Officials said he had left a note in his diary in which he had apologised for the extreme step and stated that no one was to be blamed for his death. Initial enquiries have revealed that Shajan was removed from the cooperative bank president post and the party to which he belongs to after corruption charges were levelled against him.
