Girinagar Resident Gets Title Deed after 45 Years

KOCHI: The 45-year battle of Madhavi, a resident of Girinagar near Kadavanthra, finally come to an end when District Collector M G Rajamanickam issued an order to grant her title deed at the monthly district adalat held at the Civil Station hall here on Saturday. It was in 1970, Madhavi along with her husband the late Gangadharan handed over their land for the Kochi Shipyard project. Though the government allotted them land at Girinagar, no title deed was issued to them. Even though they approached several offices all these years, their application for title deed was rejected citing technical reasons. “The department concerned will look into the matter and complete the formalities within a few days.

An order has been issued to allot title deed to the family within 15 days,” said the Collector. “It is really a huge relief for the family, as our father and mother struggled a lot over the years to get the title deed. This is an ‘Onam’ gift for my mother,” said Madhavi’s son Anilkumar, who accompanied her to the adalat. As many as 114 cases came up for hearing at the adalat. The District Collector also directed the tahsildars to dispose of the cases pending in their offices with immediate effect.
