KOCHI:Have you ever dialed ‘0’ while booking your cooking gas? It’s Ok! Don’t worry, you won’t lose your gas subsidy. The assurance comes from Indian Oil Corporation Chief Sales Manager R Gireesh who was here at Civil Station the other day to attend a meeting to discuss the issues related to the distribution of cooking gas.
“Nobody will come under the give it up policy of the Central Government if they dial ‘0’. By dialing ‘0’ the request will be forwarded to the supply agency and the agency will inform the matter to the company. The company will initiate the cancellation only after getting the affidavit from the costumers,” Gireesh said in the meeting.
The Indian Oil Corporation has the policy of getting an from the consumer before taking any decision regarding their gas connection. The meeting was led by Additional District Magistrate P Padmakumar. Resident association members, gas agencies, consumer representatives, company representatives and civil supply officials participated in the meeting.
Since IOC has a large consumers base compared to the other oil companies, the number of complaints were the highest against it. One of the major complaints raised by the participants was the irregular distribution of gas by the gas agencies.
Meanwhile, ADM also directed the agencies to keep the price as fixed by the District Collector while charging the fee for distribution. As per the instruction no fee can be imposed within the radius of 5 km. For 5-10 km the fee should be Rs 20 and for 10 to 15km it should be Rs 25 and the maximum amount has been fixed as Rs 30.
