Rare Surgery Conducted at AIMS

KOCHI: The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) on Monday conducted a rare surgery on a 16-year-old girl.   The jawbone replacement surgery was performed on the patient who had been suffering from juvenile arthritis. The girl had been affected with the disease since infancy, and was not able to open her mouth for the last 13 years.

“It is the first time a patient’s jawbone was replaced completely,” said Dr Pramod Subhash.
