Myriad Emotions at Taluk Hospital

KOCHI:The Fort Kochi Taluk Hospital, where the passengers of the sunken boat were first taken to, witnessed emotional scenes. About 35 persons were taken to this hospital. Meanwhile, locals stepped in to control the traffic, ensuring hassle-free movement of ambulances.

Relatives of the rescued passengers rushed to the hospital after hearing the news. For some of them, it was a heartbreaking moment while some were relieved to see their relatives safe. The medical team responded fast as several government doctors from other hospitals arrived and assisted the medical staff at the Taluk Hospital. Only 7 persons were hospitalised while all others were discharged after administering first aid.

“There were space constraints at the hospital. Several employees who were on leave, cancelled it and joined us. Government doctors at Thopumpady, Kanammally, Palluruthy and other parts of Kochi have arrived here. Those required further medical care were referred to other hospitals, but we could treat a majority of the persons here,” a doctor at Taluk Hospital said.

Locals near the hospital helped policemen control the road traffic.
