KOCHI:A three-day seminar on ‘New Trends in Head and Neck Cancer’, organised by the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, began on Saturday. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Subrahmanyeswara Rao, chief surgical oncologist and medical director at the Indo- American Cancer Hospital, Hyderabad. AIMS medical director Dr Prem Nair presided over the function.
Around 150 experts from across the country are participating in the event. Dr Alok Thakar, professor at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences and Subrahmanyeswara Rao presented theses. On the occasion, ‘New Trends in Head and Neck Oncology’, a book co-written by Dr Subramania Iyer and Dr Krishnakumar ‘ was released. Mayor Tony Chammany inaugurated the Amrita Health Centre, set up by the AIMS, at Mattancherry here on Saturday.
Corporation Health Standing Committee chairman T K Ashraf, Town Planning Committee chairman K J Sohan, councillor Rajula, CDS chairperson Sheela Mohan and AIMS medical director Dr Prem Nair also attended the function.
