Sabarimala Temple to be Reopened on July 16

SABARIMALA: The hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa here will be opened on July 16 for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Karkidakom.

Melsanthi Krishnadas Nampoothiri will open the Sreekovil of the temple at 5.30 pm in the presence of Tantri Kandararu Rajivaru.

As an ongoing temple practice, no rituals will be held at the Sreekovil in the evening.

Sabarimala devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said that Laksharchana, Sahsrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam would be the special rituals to be conducted during the five days of the monthly pooja.

Laksharchana and Kalabhabhishekam will be the special rituals to be held on July 17, the first day of the Malayalam month of Karkidakom.As part of Lakhsarchana, Tantri Rajivaru will conduct Brahmakalasa pooja at the Mandapam of the temple in the presence of Krishnadas Nampoothiri at 6 am, followed by recital of vedic mantras by a dozen scholars.

The ritual will be concluded with Kalasabhishekam on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja.

In connection with Kalabhabhishekam, the Tantri will conduct Kalabhakalasa Pooja at the Mandapam at 10.30 am.Kalalabhabhishekam , marking the conclusion of the ritual, will be held on the idol after the procession carrying the Kalabhakalasam by the melsanthi led by the thantri circumambulating the Sreekovil of the temple.

Udayasthamana pooja, Padi pooja and Pushpabhishekam will be the other rituals to be conducted at the temple on all days of the monthly poojas.

The temple will be closed on July 21 evening after Athazha pooja and Harivarasanam.

‘Niraputhari’ Celebration

The annual ‘Niraputhari’  celebration, marking the ceremony in connection with the beginning of the harvest season, will be held on July 22.
