KOCHI:The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) will start the tendering process for widening the Vyttila -Petta road by next week.
KMRL expects to complete the tendering formalities by the time the land acquisition on the stretch is done, according to an official statement issued by the agency here on Monday. The land acquisition meeting held in KMRL also decided to fast track the land acquisition process from Maharaja’s to Vyttila to carry the work forward. The major acquisition to be done on the stretch includes the land owned by Kochi Corporation, which is required for the construction of Metro Rail South Station, land from South Railway Station to Manorama Jn, FACT Land, Railway Cooperative Society shifting and land for the widening of approach road of South ROB on the Manorama side.
Recently, the government had cleared the proposal for availing a loan of Rs 104 crore from the Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank. The loan will be used for acquisition of land required for the Vyttila-Pettah stretch.
