Hiroshi Shoji Better, Returns to Japan

KOCHI:Hiroshi Shoji, one of the passengers in Japanese Peace Boat carrying survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings has returned to Japan with his daughter after successful treatment from KIMS Hospital, Edappally here.

Shoji developed internal bleeding, which accentuated when the Peace Boat reached Kochi last week. He was admitted to KIMS where he underwent emergency treatment. The Japanese Peace Boat carrying 1,000 people on a 110-day journey, reached Kochi last week after 45 days.The Japanese Embassy in Delhi informed Shoji’s children in Japan about his treatment. As Shoji knew only Japanese, the Embassy had arranged a translator from Japanese Consulate at the hospital.Shoji said he would definitely return to ‘God’s Own Country’ if health permits.

Dr Vinod Kumar, gastro entrologist, Dr Srivalsan of Critical Care division, Dr Shibu, cardiologist led the treatment, a press release said.
